Tim Rock's dive guides have accompanied me to many far-away places over the years and they have made cherished memories of what could have been an ordinary dive trips without his insights. Tim's books have a unique style that not only combines accurate descriptions of dive sites and gorgeous photography but also includes extensive information on the people and culture of the area that is sadly lacking in most "dive" books. His books read more like travel guides.Tim clearly loves this part of the Pacific as evidenced by his personal observations and beautiful descriptive language. It also seems that Tim knows everyone in the area as he seamlessly weaves their insights into his descriptions. The book is extensively researched, as well - just check out the section on Truk (Chuuk). It is also clear from the details of the dives sites that he has actually dived all of these sites himself. This alone must have taken decades.This is a work of art and a culmination of a lifetime of diving in the region. It is a must-have companion for anyone considering a trip to this part of the Pacific.
